Animated Mosaics

Animated mosaics are currently used for artistic short movies. Many of these shorts are created by treating each frame of the animation as a separate mosaic. However, the tile positions and orientations move between frames giving the movie a shimmering, or noisy appearance. Other shorts are generated by moving individual tiles by hand, and using stop motion photography to create the animation. The methods of Animosaics and Spectral Packing improve upon this by attempting to incorporate tile movement, and improve tile placement, respectively. The focus of this project was to combine these two packing techniques to improve the appearance of automatically generated animated mosaics.
